PB SMASHED TWICE - KYLE SCOWEN

Kyle Scowen visited Cavagnac Lake for the first time in summer 2019, he wrote about his memorable trip here with a fish of a lifetime!

"Hi my name is Kyle Scowen. My mum won a holiday to Cavagnac Lake after entering a giveaway at Brentwood carp show in Essex, I was absolutely buzzing and couldn't wait to fish abroad let alone at Cavagnac! We decided to take the All Inclusive package and fly over, we met one of the guys from the lake at the airport to collect us.

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and was greeted by everyone from the lake Ross, Dan, David, Arno, Amy and Connie they were all very helpful and became almost like a family by the end of the week.

My first night fishing started with placing the rods in various different spots with a fair bit of bait around them. My material was already set up on arrival so I could get straight to it. Unfortunately the first night was unsuccessful until I landed my new PB weighing in at 30lb5oz I was so happy that I had a new PB and was off the mark so early into the trip with 5 nights left!

A couple of nights later, while all was calm, my alarm sounded 4 very loud beeps. I ran and grabbed my life jacket, picked up the rod and got in the boat to land this fish, it was very clearly snagged up deep in some lily's  I was lucky to have Arno out with me on the front of the boat pulling Lilly's up. The fish was finally out of the pads and was stripping line and bending the rod double unfortunately it took me into another set of pads so Arno went back onto the front of the boat, this time I could feel the line I thought it was going to snap! but it came out and straight up to the surface ready to net, it was HUGE, its head was bigger than mine when it was in the net Arno instantly recognised the fish as one of the big ones so we retained it safely until we got the scales.

On the scales it went round to a crazy 73pound.1 ounce and it was a beautiful, clean mirror.

I can't thank the staff on the lake enough for the week of a life time I had an amazing time especially with Dan the bailiff!"
